Stockbridge’s Annual Storm Drain Project

The City of Stockbridge is in need of Volunteers for a great project!  In an ongoing effort to help keep debris out of the storm drain, Stockbridge is giving the community a chance to participate and get the word out about environmental concerns.  The main objective is to raise community awareness about the function of storm drains; their link to water quality, both locally and throughout the state.  Storm drains were designed to be the fastest and most efficient way of getting rainwater off streets and parking lots. Unfortunately, the water that flows into your storm drain often carries trash, leaves, grass clippings and sediment from the street; nutrients in the form of fertilizers, toxins in the form of pesticides,

Temporary Sewer Pipe Causes Road Blockage

The residents living near Nancy Creek and Ridgewood roads have had to drive around a temporary sewer line which was blocking the intersection. An above ground sewer pipe that emptied into a manhole has been the talk of the town for nearly four months. Residents felt as though they were in harm’s way as cars at this busy intersection were a constant source of concern while driving around the pipe in the road. Good new residents! A potentially dangerous situation has been removed as the repairs to the broken pipe have been made and the City has resolved the problem. It’s true that Atlanta has an older underground infrastructure that requires maintenance from time to time. But not to worry,

Rainy Season and Sewer Drainage Systems

Many of us are experiencing a rainy season now that summer is in full swing.  Along with the sunny delights and fanfare this time of year brings, there is also a need to think about the proper functioning of our drainage systems where we live.  It is important to know to what extent a drainage issue is prevalent.  In order to do this, a qualified fully licensed professional is needed for drain pipe cleaning. This will also maximize your awareness of the health of the pipelines in your home.  Here are a few suggestions when seeking the help of an expert: 1. Get referrals from people you know.  Word of mouth advertising speaks volumes on the overall satisfaction of previous

DeKalb County Sewage Woes

Atlanta is known for its rich culture, wonderful restaurants and social life and many old, historic buildings with amazing heritage and architecture. With such vast contributions coming from the greater Atlanta area, it is a multi-cultural gem. Many people are flocking to the city for all of its potential and growth. With this influx of population, the city has indeed looked at the underground sewage infrastructure and Sanitary Sewer system to ensure its condition and ability to continue to thrive and meet the needs of its people. However, the people of DeKalb County, an Atlanta suburb, say their area of town has yet to come up to the existing, better standards of neighboring areas of Atlanta. Many say the sewage

Sewer and Water 101

Summer is indeed here in all its glory.  We know that means rainfall is here, too.  In fact, in many parts of the country we have had record setting storms.  Precipitation can heavily contribute to an overloaded sewer system.  As a nation, we have over 700 communities that utilize combined sewer systems.  There are some Cities that have separate sewer systems but this is no small financial investment.  Even so, municipalities have the burden of making sure these systems are functioning. It can pose a health risk and even more financial strain if they are not. There are small contributions the residents of any community can make to keep overflows to a minimum.  With a combined effort, each small attempt
